Parking - Auto, Pets Allowed, Scenic View/Photo Spot
As the highest point in the park, the Hawk’s Nest offers some of the best views of the Upper Delaware River Valley. From the overlook point, you can see the river snaking around the shimmering Delaware River, surrounded by sandstone cliffs, rolling hills, and dense forest. In the spring and summer, the landscape is lush with emerald leaves. In fall, the valley offers striking, fiery autumn foliage. For those willing to brave the winter temperatures, you may be rewarded with sights of wintering bald eagles hunting and nesting in the river valley. This is just one place to stop along the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway (New York State Route 97).
Please be respectful of the park and practice "Leave No Trace" principles. Do not litter or leave trash at the Hawk's Nest or along Route 97. No trash cans are available.
Parking
Limited parking areas at the overlook area are available. These are located on the west side of the road, the side facing the river. Parking areas are able to accommodate between 3-8 cars each and are relatively narrow, allowing for cars to park parallel to the road. Parking areas are generally not wide enough for front-in or back-in parking. It will be easier to park if one is driving southbound on Route 97. The road is narrow and winding. Please drive slowly and carefully and do not park on the road shoulder.
