The fossil plant exhibit contains over 100 fossils. Most of these plants are the only one of that type that we have found so far. Modern plants are described by their flowering parts. Since fossil plants are mostly found as isolated leaves, seeds, or flowers, it is difficult to describe them. Instead of being identified as different species, they are morphotyped, which identifies them as different types of plants based on their features.
