Halfway between Lummi and Orcas Island, the 55-acre Clark Island Marine State Park is only accessible by boat or paddle. Though the island is small, it has many recreational opportunities, including 15 campsites, 9 buoys for moorage, 2 picnic areas, a sandy beach, and opportunities for clamming, crabbing, and fishing.
Clark Island has been a Coast Salish homeland since time immemorial. The federal government intended to build a lighthouse on Clark Island, but it never got around to it; instead, it was transferred to the state of Washington and became a State Park in 1964.
