From the Oregon Trail Park at Scott Springs ' parking lot, follow the one mile long, handicap accessible walking trail called "Little Dog Lost." It leads from the park, under the bridge, to the other side of the highway, and onto a grave site.
A wooden path zig-zags through the woods down to the creek's edge and connects with a cement sidewalk which passes to the left (or westward) under the highway bridge, and then winds up the bank on the other side of the highway. A sign at the entrance to the walkway tells us that the path leads to the grave of a child who was traveling the trail with her parents. It reads in part, "There are several graves in the area. Cholera was a disease taking many lives in those years." As you follow the path, you can see the creek to your right. At the top of the slope on the far side is an old grave marker. Engraved lettering reads, "Here lies an early traveler who lost his life in quest of riches in the west."
