Kirke Wrench

In 1988, a blue whale washed up on Ocean Beach in San Francisco. The carcass was cut into three pieces and buried in the sand. More than five years passed until the remains, now a cleaned up skeleton, were dug up and moved here. Today the bones are on display, arranged inside an outline of a whale to give a sense of size and shape to these wondrous underwater behemoths.

To the next tour point: Head east towards Bunker Road, but take the trail south before getting to the intersection. The trail will lead you to a crosswalk where you can cross Mitchell Road back towards the lagoon.
