**TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER - UPDATE**

Beginning on June 11, 2025, and ending on June 11, 2026, the southern border roads of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument (as reflected in the attached map) will be closed to all visitor access and use.

Pursuant to the authority outlined in 36 CFR § 1.5(a)(1), which provides that the Superintendent may “Designate areas for a specific use or activity, or impose conditions or restrictions on a use or activity,” the following areas are restricted or closed:

  • West Border Road (Roosevelt Reservation) from the Lukeville Port of Entry west to Quitobaquito Springs.
  • East Border Road (Roosevelt Reservation) from the Lukeville Port of Entry east to the Santa Rosa Mountains.
  • All crossover roads leading from South Puerto Blanco to the West Border Road (Roosevelt Reservation).

This closure applies to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic and exists as a means to maintain health and safety and avoid conflict cmong visitor use activities.

Visitor education materials and alerts will be made available throughout the closure period. The effectiveness of this closure will be assessed on an on-going basis. Notice will be provided of any additional closure revisions

South Puerto Blanco Drive Construction April/May 2026 - Update

Road crews with heavy equipment are expected to be working on the first 3.4 km of South Puerto Blanco Road west from Arizona Highway 85. This section of road is highlighted in purple.

The road remains open to visitors but motorists are advised that traffic may be stopped. Use caution and follow road crew directives to pass. Work will continue for the next few weeks.
