AJO, Arizona: With the weather warming and visitors arriving, Organ Pipe Cactus has scheduled tours to historic Quitobaquito. "This year we have planned additional tours over last year. This is the only opportunity local residents and visiting public have to visit this historical area. Tours will enhance the public's understanding of the history and cultural significance of Quitobaquito." said Superintendent Lee Baiza. There are five tours scheduled: February 28 & 29; March 6, 7, 13, 14, 27 & 28.

Anyone wishing to reserve a seat on the van should call 520-387-6849, extension 7302 for reservations. The number of available seats is limited, so reservations are required. No personal vehicles are permitted on the tour. A National Park Service van will transport visitors to Quitobaquito with a Park Ranger who will provide a guided tour of the area. Participants should arrive at the Kris Eggle Visitor Center no later than 7:45 a.m. The tour will leave the visitor center after a mandatory safety briefing. The van will return at approximately noon. Children must at least 12 years old and accompanied by an adult.

The walking tour will last approximately two hours and be through the historic area over uneven ground. Participants should bring a snacks, water, sunscreen, brimmed hat and wear sturdy shoes. People may bring binoculars and cameras, however the van does not have storage capacity so large camera bags and tripods will not fit. All participants will be required to go on the walking tour and stay as a group with the Park Ranger.
