 Belle Grove offers guests inspiring tours of the region's premier authentic antebellum plantation. Tours last 45 minutes to one hour. Tickets for tours do not require advanced reservations.  Our current 2024 Fall Ranger Programs run through November 18. Check back for further details about late Fall programming.  Rangers present evening campfire talks on a wide variety of topics on the Battle of Gettysburg and the American Civil War. Programs take place at 6:30 PM at the Pitzer Woods Amphitheater, near Auto Tour Stop #6.  Throughout the year, Gettysburg National Military Park staff lead special battle walks that explore aspects of the history of the battlefield in more detail than the usual daily ranger programs. Check here for any upcoming battle walks.  From the roar of artillery to the flash of bayonets, living history demonstrations at Gettysburg National Military Park help bring the past to life. On select days, Civil War living historians encamp on the Gettysburg battlefield. Explore their camps, interact with these knowledgeable historians, and witness as they demonstrate the tools, tactics, and firepower of the two armies that waged war across these now hallowed fields.  Walk along a section of Jackson's line on the Unfinished Railroad where Federal soldiers momentarily breached the Confederate line on August 29, 1862.  The Matthews Hill Loop is a .9 mile trail that explores the ground over which the opening shots of the Battle of First Manassas occurred.  This trial traces the opposing lines of battle during the opening fighting of the Battle of Second Manassas on August 28, 1862.  The Stone Bridge Loop is a moderate 1.3 mile trail that follows along the Bull Run and explores the area where the first shots of the First Battle of Manassas were fired. Picturesque displays can be had along the trail of wildflowers in the spring and colorful foliage in the fall.  Murphy Farm is one of several places that are great to explore with your leashed dog. The trails offer a walk along the farm lane, through the woods, and along the fields. You also take in the view of the Shenandoah River.
