Harmful Algal Blooms

NPS-wide

Harmful Algal Blooms can be tricky to identify, so when in doubt, stay out! They can occur in both fresh and coastal waters and range in colors from green to red to purple. People have described HABs as looking like spilled paint, pea soup, floating scum, mats, sheens, clumps, or streaks. This album gives an overview of some examples of what HABs can look like.
