Participate in Martin Van Buren National Historic Site's Junior Ranger Program! Our unique pop-up Junior Ranger Book offers students of history an engaging way to explore Martin Van Buren's house and grounds. Junior Rangers are encouraged to:

  • Think about life in the 19th century and draw connections to their own families and life today
  • Discover how artifacts and archeology can teach us about the past
  • Learn about major political events during Van Buren's lifetime
  • Explore the farm and natural features of the park
  • Draw their own community maps, family trees, and coat of arms

Check in at the park's visitor center to pick up a Junior Ranger book, receive instructions, and earn your badge!

You can also be a Junior Ranger from the comfort of your home! A downloadable version of the Junior Ranger book is available.
Mail or email the completed pages to the park to receive your badge.
