The Friends of Longfellow House-Washington’s Headquarters are now accepting applications for the 2022 Stanley Paterson Research Fellowship.
The Paterson Fellowship supports research by scholars using the archives and collections at Longfellow House-Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site. The Fellowship consists of a $1,200 stipend to support travel and living expenses for research in Cambridge, MA.
Past Fellows have studied a broad range of topics, including how Finland’s national epic The Kalevala influenced Longfellow’s The Song of Hiawatha, architecture and design from Colonial Cambridge to the Colonial Revival, and American Socialism and the labor education movement. These projects draw on the surprisingly diverse and wide-ranging archival material related to the extended Longfellow family held by Longfellow House-Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site.
The 2022 Fellowship Call for Entries has more information and directions on how to apply. Applications are due on April 11, 2022, with notification to applicants on April 29, 2022.
