Internships

Scientists in Parks (SIP) Internship

The Scientists in Parks (SIP) Program is administered by the National Park Service (NPS) Natural Resource Stewardship and Science Directorate, in partnership with the WASO Youth Programs Division and several non-governmental partner organizations. The SIP Program enables NPS parks, networks, regions, and programs (NPS Units) to hire individuals (SIP Participants) into temporary projects that address natural resource management issues. Simultaneously, the SIP Program affords SIP Participants a high-quality work experience that inspires and develops the next generation of diverse park stewards and fosters a life-long connection to the National Park System. SIP projects may vary considerably in complexity, length, discipline, and skill set, in accordance with the particular needs of NPS Units and abilities of the SIP Participants.

This internship program places interns in parks in summer (May-September) and in winter (October-April). Lassen Volcanic National Park typically advertises for a summer SIP Intern. The selected intern will work in the Division of Resource Management and will focus on various natural and cultural resource inventory, monitoring, restoration, and research projects.

This position is offered through the National Park Service's Scientists-in-Parks (SIP) Internship Program. If interested in this internship, please apply through the SIP website.
