[Sat 10:00 am ET] Five days prior to the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, on June 22, 1864, Union and Confederate forces met near the Kolb Farm. During a time when all seemed lost, these brave individuals join Union forces in numerous ways. [Sat 12:00 pm ET] While the peak of Kennesaw Mountain is a popular spot for sightseeing and getting a workout, it was a key part of the Confederate defensive line in June of 1864. In this short program, ranger Jake Boling discusses the actions of the four gun battery under Captain C. L Lumsden at the mountain's summit.

[Sat 1:00 pm ET] During the 19th Century, children enjoyed coming up with games and playing with friends just as children do during the 21st century. One game that children would play would be the game of Annie Over. Even with limited resources, children during the 19th century knew they only needed a few items to have a fun time. Join Ranger Amanda and her park friends as they demonstrate this unique game.
[Sat 2:00 pm ET] Facing the ridgeline of Kennesaw Mountain and Pigeon Hill, Sherman strategically placed a 24-gun artillery battery just west of the mountain. Please join volunteer Andy Cole and the Kennesaw Mountain Volunteer Artillery detachment as he discusses the importance of this location and they provide a live firing of a 3-inch ordinance rife.

[Sat 3:00 pm ET] Napoleon said that “An Army marches on its stomach.” It was no different during the American Civil War. Please join volunteer Andy Cole as he discusses cooking during the Civil War and how food was influenced by the area, season, and availability and how food played a major role during the war.
[Sat 4:00 pm ET] In this short video, Ranger Jake discusses the Union demonstration/diversionary attack that took place in the Memorial Field at the base of Kennesaw Mountain. While short and ultimately unsuccessful, this event is still a vital part of the Kennesaw Mountain story. This video highlights the Memorial Field in front of the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park's Visitor Center.

These “small hills” were once elaborate defensive earthworks protecting soldiers from oncoming enemy fire. [Sun 12:00 pm ET] Roughly one mile west of Cheatham Hill, Union generals Sherman and Thomas met to discuss, and ultimately order, an ill-fated frontal assault against Confederate General William Hardee and his troops entrenched atop Cheatham Hill. Join Ranger Kyle as he discusses the decisions these men made and how it ultimately effected the outcome of the battle.

[Sun 2:00 pm ET} One of our lesser known historical trails is the Assault Trail which begins at Activity Area 3 and continues to Cheatham Hill, re- tracing the footsteps of the Union soldiers who made the daring charge against the Confederate works there on June 27th, 1864. Ranger James takes us along this trail, reading from primary sources and describing the build-up to the assault.
