The Jimmy Carter National Historical Park has three physically distinct units; Plains High School Visitor Center and Museum, Plains Depot, and the Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm. Each of these locations had accessible parking for vehicles displaying appropriate hangtags or license plates.

Plains High School Visitor Center and Museum is accessed by stairs in the front of the building and by a ramp at the rear of the building. The rear parking lot of Plains High School has three van accessible parking spots. Entrance to the building is made by a ramp at the rear of the building next to the women’s restroom.Inside Plains High School all the exhibits are on one level. In three of the rooms there is a transition between floor elevations of up to ¼ inch at the doorway.A manual wheelchair is available for use inside the building. It is available on a first come first served basis.
Service dogs are allowed in Plains High School Visitor Center and Museum.

Plains Depot has two levels, the ground level and the platform level. The ground level is accessed by a sidewalk that connects to the parking area. In the parking area there is one van accessible parking spot on the west side of the building. Non accessible parking is available in the same lot.The ground level of the Plains Depot has a sidewalk that runs from the parking lot to the front door. The sidewalk is level and has a slope of less than 4% near the glass door. Inside Plains Depot the floor in the lower level of the building is covered with low pile carpet.The platform level of Plains Depot is accessible by two sets of stairs; one inside the building and one on the exterior of the building. Inside the building watch you head as you ascend or descend the steps. A handrail is on both sides of the stairway. Outside the building the stairs have a handrail on one side of the building only. Watch your step.The platform level of Plains Depot is accessible by a ramp that starts next to the parking lot. It has a resting spot halfway up and turns back on itself. The ramp is made of wood and is in good repair. The Plains Depot platform is made of thick boards, some of which have cupped. There can be up to ¼ inch gaps and dips in the wooden surface. Inside Plains Depot the same type of wood flooring exists.
Service Dogs are allowed in Plains Depot.

Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm has two van accessible parking spots in the rear parking lot. Next to the Carter Boyhood Home there is an additional parking lot with no lines to designate spots.The buildings of the Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm are accessible via a sidewalk. The Carter Boyhood Home is accessed via a ramp at the rear of the building and by steps in the front of the building. The ramp is made of wood and is in good repair.Inside the Carter Boyhood Home visitors in large wheelchairs or motorized scooters may have some difficulty accessing Jimmy Carter’s bedroom and the dining room. There are thresholds with up to ¼ thickness between the rooms.The Carter Commissary or store has a ¼ inch threshold to get inside the door.The Clark House has a wooden ramp to get into the building. Visitors should be aware that there is no safety railing on the front porch of the Clark House and the distance to the ground is around 4 feet.The rest of the buildings at the farm are on ground level, but off the sidewalk. Crossing the grass visitors should be aware that uneven surfaces can be hidden by the grass.The park has a manual wheelchair for visitors to use while they are visiting the Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm.
A motorized scooter and a golf cart are available at the Boyhood Farm for visitors to use during their visit. The golf cart can only be used with the assistance of a park ranger during visits to the farm.
Service Dogs are allowed in all the buildings at the Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm.

The visitor information desk is staffed from 9 am until 5 pm daily, except for New Year's Day (January 1), Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day (December 25).
