Isle Royale Reflection"Isle Royale was my first artist residency, and it was a life-changing experience. The peace of the Dassler Cabin out on rocky, windy, wet Scoville Point gave me ample time to write, think, and consider the amazing gift of wilderness in our noisy modern world. Solitude like that is rare today. My experience there stays with me, and I’m still in touch with my friends who were the artist caretakers at the time, Dick & Mary Scheibe. I still tell anyone who’ll listen about the beauty of this island national park called Isle Royale, and I look forward to when I can return and visit again."
