BEATRICE, Neb. – Attention kids of all ages! Come to the Education Center at Homestead National Historical Park on Saturday, January 11, at 10 a.m. and join us in a ranger-led outdoor walk and indoor craft activity as we solve a mystery about critters that call the park home during winter. And of course, the event is FREE! Come dressed for the weather. Jackets, hats, and gloves are recommended.
Winter is the time of year when we typically look around and see lots of snow on the ground, bare branches on the trees, and ice on the creek. We also see tracks in the snow. What made the tracks? Who lives in the park when the weather gets cold and snowy? Guided by a park ranger, participants will observe and investigate tracks on the park’s trails, then make their own plaster cast of a track to take home. All participants earn a Junior Ranger badge!

Homestead National Historical Park is a unit of the National Park Service, located four miles west of Beatrice, NE. Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
