Choosing an Entrance PassDo you have or qualify for a discounted America the Beautiful Pass?If you already have an America the Beautiful—the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass, that's the only entrance pass you need. Seniors, military, visitors with a permanent disability, and families with a 4th grader are eligible for a free or discounted America the Beautiful pass. How often do you plan to visit national parks in the next 12 months?If you don't qualify for a discounted America the Beautiful pass, we recommend choosing an entrance pass based on your trip plans.
Entrance PassesThe annual pass is valid for entrance fees for pass holder and occupants of a single, private, non-commercial vehicle at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, Haleakalā National Park, and Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park. Standard Entrance Pass$15.00–$30.00
All visitors at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park are required to pay an entrance fee. If you already have a valid, America the Beautiful—National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Annual Pass or Hawaiʻi Annual Tri-Park Pass, you are not required to purchase a digital pass through Recreation.gov. If you arrive to the park entrance and it is not staffed, purchase an online pass or pay at the entrance at another time.
Once purchased, passes must be printed or saved as a screenshot. Connectivity is limited, and the digital pass must be available to show at all times when visiting Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.
For purposes of upgrading to annual or lifetime passes: Digital passes may be accepted at parks other than Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, as credit towards an upgrade to annual or lifetime passes, within 7 days from the date of purchase.
Passes are non-transferrable, non-refundable, not replaceable if lost or stolen, and are void if altered or reproduced.
For VehiclesIf you enter the park in a motorized vehicle, your entrance pass covers both you and your passengers. Your passengers do not need a separate pass. Costs for vehicles with more than 15 passengers are listed below under Organizations and Businesses. For Individuals without a VehicleIf you enter the park on a bicycle or on foot and are at least 16 years old, you need your own entrance pass. Children under the age of 16 don't need an entrance pass. Pedestrian/Cyclist Pass - Admits one individual bicyclist, hiker, or pedestrian visiting without a private vehicle. For Organizations & BusinessesThe commercial entrance fee for a Road Based Guided Tour is based on vehicle seating capacity. For a 1 to 6 vehicle the user fee is $25 plus an additional $15 per person in the vehicle. $15 per person charge is not applicable for visitors aged 15 and under. In-person Purchase Locations
The commercial entrance fee for a Road Based Guided Tour is based on vehicle seating capacity. For a 16-25 passenger vehicle the user fee is $100.

Online orders are for physical passes, not digital passes, and may take up to three weeks to be processed and delivered. Order receipts may not be used in place of a physical pass. Regulations and Exceptions
Commercial Tour FeesThese fees are charged only to commercial organizations, such as tour companies. A Commercial Use Authorization is required. Fees vary based passenger capacity of the vehicle and type of tour being given.Education Fee WaiverAccredited schools with students ages 15 and under, who are visiting the park for a curriculum-based program, no longer need to apply for a fee waiver for free entry. Simply fill out the Education Program Request form on the Ranger-led/Self-guided Field Trip webpage. Any school planning a visit, with or without rangers, must use this form.
