What is Group Camping?Group camping is aimed at larger groups visiting the park, generally in an organization. For example, scout troops, church groups, and community groups often frequent Great Basin's group sites. For now, only Grey Cliffs Campground has these larger group sites for accommodating large groups in a single site. There are additional restrictions however in order to keep the campground in good condition for those who follow and to reduce impact to the local ecology. Grey Cliffs CampgroundLarge groups can be accomodated at the A and C Loop of Grey Cliffs Campground, located on the maintained, gravel Baker Creek Road at an elevation of 7,115 feet (2,160 meters). There are three group sites in Loops A & C (A5, C1, and C2) reservable at Recreation.gov. Groups utilizing the group campsites cannot exceed a maximum group size of 16 persons per site, or 30 persons per loop. Grey Cliffs Campground does have vault toilets but no potable water. Water is available at the RV Sanitary/Dump Station from late spring through early fall, or the Lehman Caves Visitor Center. Campfires are only allowed in campfire rings. RVs and trailers are prohibited in Grey Cliffs Campground due to the tight turns and campsite space constraints. Reservations are required, and can be made by calling (877) 444-6777 or by going online to Recreation.gov. Reservations are available in summer 30 days prior to visiting. The fee is $30 per night, for up to 16 people. Full payment is due at the time of reservation. Unlike other campsites, group sites do not allow for Senior/Access passholder discounts. |
