In 2026, Glacier National Park will pilot a ticketed-only, Logan Pass shuttle service with early morning express routes to Logan Pass. Additionally, the park will limit private vehicle parking to three hours or less at Logan Pass beginning July 1, 2026 through Labor Day on September 7, 2026. Vehicle reservations will not be required anywhere in the park in 2026.

Timed Parking at Logan Pass

To alleviate congestion at Logan Pass, the park is introducing three-hour, timed parking from July 1, 2026 through September 7, 2026. Timed parking is designed to increase parking turnover, allowing more visitors the opportunity to access and enjoy Logan Pass throughout the summer season.

Before heading to Logan Pass, review the following details. Know what to expect and be prepared.

  • Parking at Logan Pass will be available to visitors on a short-term basis only, with all private vehicle parking spots limited to a maximum three-hour parking duration.
  • The three-hour parking limit will be implemented July 1, 2026 through Labor Day, September 7, 2026 and will be enforced 24 hours each day.
  • To park at Logan Pass, visitors should first find and park in an available parking space. After parking, visitors must then obtain a free, timestamped parking permit from the parking permit kiosk (directional signage will lead you to the kiosk location). The parking permit must be placed on the vehicle’s dashboard.
  • Short-term parking encourages turnover and greater opportunities for visitors to experience Logan Pass. Three hours at Logan Pass should allow time for visitors to hike to the Hidden Lake Overlook, attend an interpretive program, or stop by the Logan Pass Visitor Center.
  • Overnight parking will not be permitted at Logan Pass, except with a park permit issued to permitted backcountry users and guests of Granite Park Chalet.
  • Visitors planning longer day hikes that begin at Logan Pass, such as Highline Trail to Granite Park Chalet or to the Loop Trailhead, will need to obtain a shuttle ticket (see Logan Pass Shuttle Service information below).
  • Detailed information on timed parking at Logan Pass and Logan Pass Shuttles can be found on the Visiting Logan Pass FAQs page coming soon.
  • Please note: Time-limited parking may continue past Labor Day. If operational funding is available, the park will evaluate whether to extend the shuttle system beyond Labor Day. If the shuttle system operates past Labor Day, time-limited parking at Logan Pass will continue to match the extended shuttle system dates.

Logan Pass Shuttle Service

The ticketed Logan Pass Shuttle provides express transportation to Logan Pass for visitors seeking day-long itineraries such as hiking the Highline Trail. This shuttle service replaces Glacier National Park’s previous first-come, first-served shuttle system. The following details provide information on 2026 shuttle routes and access. More information on shuttle routes, boarding times, and stop locations is available on the park's shuttle page.

How is the Logan Pass Shuttle different than in past years?

  • The 2026 shuttle system runs from July 1, 2026, through September 7, 2026. If operating funds are available, park managers will evaluate whether to extend the Logan Pass Shuttle beyond September 7th.
  • Logan Pass Shuttle ticket is required for each person accessing the park’s Logan Pass Shuttle system. Tickets are valid one day, and the valid date is displayed on each ticket.
  • Tickets are only available on Recreation.gov. Each shuttle ticket includes a non-refundable $1 processing fee. Shuttle tickets are assigned to specific boarding locations and boarding times. Boarding locations include Apgar Visitor Center, Lake McDonald Lodge, St. Mary Visitor Center, and Rising Sun Picnic Area.
  • Logan Pass shuttles provide express service to Logan Pass from both the west and east sides of Going-to-the-Sun Road. West side boarding locations are located at Apgar Visitor Center and Lake McDonald. East side boarding locations are located at Rising Sun Picnic Area and St. Mary Visitor Center.
  • The Logan Pass Shuttle Service is designed exclusively to support day‑use access to Logan Pass. The shuttle system is not intended for visitors planning overnight trips. The shuttle provides direct, same‑day service only.
  • Please note: in 2026, Avalanche Lake and the Trail of the Cedars will not be accessible by park shuttle.

How do I get tickets and where can I find more information about the Logan Pass Shuttle?

  • All shuttle tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on Recreation.gov or through the Recreation.gov Call Center (Reservation Line: 877-444-6777). Visitors will need to set up an account on Recreation.gov to obtain reservations. The only cost associated with booking a ticket is a $1 Recreation.gov processing fee per ticket.
  • Shuttle tickets are not available for purchase inside the park.
  • Shuttle tickets are non-transferable and photo ID may be requested to verify that the ticket purchaser is present.
  • Children aged 2 and older must have their own seat and their own shuttle ticket. Infants under 2 years old must travel as a "lap child" and may ride the shuttle on the lap of a ticketed adult passenger.
  • Shuttle tickets will be released during two booking windows. A portion of tickets will be available 60 days in advance beginning May 2, 2026, at 8 a.m. MDT, on a rolling basis. The remaining tickets will be released daily at 7 p.m. MDT, beginning June 30, for next-day shuttles.
  • More information on boarding locations and depature times is available on the park's shuttle page.
  • Detailed information on timed parking at Logan Pass and Logan Pass Shuttles can be found on the Visiting Logan Pass FAQs page coming soon.
