Getting Around

Drive

The park is designed around a system of driving tours: one for each of our four major battlefields. If you are visiting multiple battlefields in one day, you will have to drive from one battlefield to the next. Visit Maps for driving tour routes and maps.

Hike

Trails in the park range in length from less than a half mile to the over seven-mile Spotsylvania History Trail! Check out Trails & Brochures for walking and hiking trails and guidance.

Bike

Bicycles, and e-bikes 750 and under, are permitted along all park roads but are best used on interior park roads, such as along Lee Drive at Fredericksburg or at Spotsylvania Court House Battlefield. Bicycles are not allowed on park trails.

For guidance on horseback riding, Segway use, or other means of transportation, and for more details about driving, hiking, and biking see the Superintendent's Compendium.
