General Information

Ford's Theatre National Historic Site and Ford's Theatre Museum is reopening on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, with a modified schedule for daytime visitation on Wednesdays through Sundays. Advance tickets will be required and must be purchased at least one day in advance (no day-of tickets available at this time).

Tickets for October 14-18 will be available online beginning October 13, 2020, at 10 a.m. Tickets for each week following will be available on Friday for the following Wednesday-Sunday. Ford’s Theatre and its museum will be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Timed entry to Ford’s Theatre and museum will be available on the hour from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The site will be closed during the 1 p.m. hour for cleaning. Adhering to capacity policies set forth by DC Health, a maximum number of 25 visitors per hour are permitted in the building during this stage of reopening. Site visits will be limited to 45 minutes total to allow for cleaning in between each entry time.

Visits to Ford’s Theatre are self-guided. National Park Service rangers will be stationed in the Theatre to orient visitors and answer questions, but no formal talks will be scheduled during this initial reopening stage. The Petersen House (The House where Lincoln Died) and the Aftermath Exhibits at the Center for Education and Leadership remain closed at this time.

Reserve tickets online at the Ford's Theatre Society website. Patrons are limited to six tickets per order and large groups are not allowed at this time. The Ford's Theatre Society charges a $3 reservation fee for each ticket.

The "America the Beautiful - National Parks and Federal Lands Pass"

As visiting Ford's Theatre National Historic Site is free, and advance reservations are arranged through a private partner organization, there is no additional benefit available for holders of the America the Beautiful Annual, Senior, Access, Volunteer, or Every Kid in a Park pass. Passes are not available at the site. Passes can be purchased online through Recreation.gov or at any site charging an entry fee.
