Visitor Center:

• Parking: There is limited free parking available in a lot south of the Visitor Center on Market Avenue and a lot behind the Saxton McKinley House. Parking is one block from the Visitor Center with a side walk and cross walk between. There are Accessible Parking Spaces located in each lot.
• Entrances: Front doors to Education Center open outwards, and open automatically after being pulled. There are 9 steps from the street into the Visitor Center. An accessible entrance with a lift located on the south side of the building available for people who may need it.
• Stairs: There are historic steps located within the Visitor Center to naviagte the three floors of museum exhibits. If using the stairs, use caution, as the treads are uneven.
• Elevator: There is an elevator just to the right of the stairs that visitors can also use to navigate the building. All floors are accessible by elevator
• Restrooms: There is a unisex wheelchair accessible restroom on the basement level and second floor of the Visitor Center.
• Exhibits: Artifacts on display are in glass cases, visually and physically available from a wheelchair. Large print copies of the exhibit lables are avaiable.

Saxton-McKinley House:

• Parking: There is limited free parking available in a lot south of the Visitor Center on Market Avenue and a lot behind the Saxton McKinley House. Parking is one block from the Visitor Center with a side walk and cross walk between. There are Accessible Parking Spaces located in each lot.
• Entrances: The tour guide will lead the group through the side door of the home. There is a ramp from the parking lot to the door, as well as the park plaza to the door. The wrap around porch is flat and can be navigated by wheel chair, but there is no ramp on the front of the porch.
• Stairs: There are historic steps located within the Saxton home to naviagte the three floors covered in the tour. If using the stairs, use caution, as the treads are uneven.
• Elevator: Every floor of the home is accessible by elevator.
• Tours: At least one member of the party must sign up for the tour and pay at the Visitor Center before the start time. Please call 330-452-0876 if you need an accommodation. Tours frequently fill up in advance especially during summer months.
  • The tour does involve moving from room to room for about an hour.

Other Considerations and Accomodations

• Wheelchairs are availble in both the Visitor Center and the Saxton home upon request.
• There are chairs and benches located throughout the exhibits in the Visitor Center as well as throughout the tour of the Saxton Home.
• Assistive Listening and Hearing Loop devices are avaible upon request for the Saxton House tours. Ask a ranger at the Visitor Center for addtional information.
• Winters in Ohio tend to be cold with snow and ice from December to April. Summers in Ohio can be hot and humid and reach over 90 degrees Fahrenheit. There is a 400 ft walk between the Education Center and Saxton-McKinley House; visitors are advised to check weather conditions prior to their visit.
