How Do I Become a Junior Ranger?

There are several ways to become a Junior Ranger at First Ladies National Historic Site and earn your Jr. Ranger badge:

Junior Ranger Books

Complete a series of activities during a visit to our Visitor Center and share your answers with a ranger.

Junior Ranger books are available for children 8 & under and everyone 9 & over.

Need a book mailed to you? Request one!

Junior Ranger Programs

Join the Park Rangers in 2024 for free programs for kids! With a little inspiration from first ladies, these monthly programs will help children learn more about their local community. From urban birds to raccoons to water quality, there’s so much to discover in our own backyard.

January 20: Exploring the Past
February 17: Urban Birds
March 16: Understanding the Eclipse
April 20: Junior Ranger Day
May 18: Rebecca Raccoon
June 15: Pollinators
July 20: Urban Blooms
August 17: How Clean?
September 21: Canton Rocks
October 19: Urban Art & Architecture

Programs are best suited for children 9-12 years old. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. Registration is required.
