Predicting Geysers
CASTLE GEYSER
Many eruptions of Castle start with little or no warning. A major
eruption usually occurs every 9-11 hours. The water shoots between
60-90 feet (18-27 m) and blasts for about 20 minutes. A noisy steam
phase follows which lasts another 30-40 minutes.
Occasionally Castle Geyser has minor eruptions that have a short
water phase (up to 11 minutes), but no steam phase. A minor eruption
may be followed by violent splashing which can last for hours but
never build into a full eruption. When Castle has a minor eruption,
the geyser becomes unpredictable until its next major eruption.
