Traffic & Travel TipsThe Main Park Road from the Homestead entrance has narrow shoulders and pulloffs, and individual parking areas at interpretive trails and waysides. The maximum speed limit is 45 to 55 mph in most areas. Allow plenty of travel time during your visit. Homestead Entrance This is the main entrance for Everglades National Park. The Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center is located at this entrance, as well as access to Royal Palm and Flamingo.

80°34"59.36 W Take the Florida Turnpike (Route 821) south until it ends, merging with U.S. 1 at Florida City. Turn right at the first traffic light onto Palm Drive (State Road 9336/SW 344 St.) and follow the signs to the park.
Public transportation to and from the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center and Royal Palm is seasonally available through the City of Homestead trolley service, from approximately December through April. This is the only public transportation offered to anywhere inside of the park. Schedules are subject to change.

Take U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail / SW 8th St.) approximately 70 miles east to Shark Valley.
Everglades City Entrance The Everglades City entrance is the entrance closest to Naples, Florida. The Gulf Coast Visitor Center is currently closed for construction, but the Ten Thousand Islands area of the park remains accessible by boat.

Take U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail) east toward Miami for approximately 35 miles to State Road 29, then turn right. Once in Everglades City, follow the signs to the park. The Gulf Coast Visitor Center is on the right (closed for construction.)
Flamingo Visitor Center The Flamingo Visitor Center is the southernmost visitor center in Everglades National Park and is the only one of the four visitor centers that is not at an entrance. It is at the end of the Main Park Road and is accessible from the Main Park (Homestead) entrance.
