Operating Hours & Seasons

Hours of Operation:

Winter Hours are currently in effect (October 18, 2026 - May 27, 2027):
During the off-season, the visitor center and park trails are open five days a week, from Thursday through Monday. Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The visitor center operates from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Mountain Time. There is no access to trails after hours or on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Hiking park trails when the monument is closed is not permitted.

Summer Hours (May 24, 2026 - October 17, 2026):
The visitor center and park trails are open seven days a week from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Mountain Time. Hiking park trails when the monument is closed is not permitted.

Closed on major holidays:
The visitor center and park trails are closed on Thanksgiving Day, December 25, and January 1.

Park Campground:
The park campground is located approximately one mile from the visitor center and park trails. It is open 24/7 year round.

Important Trail Information:

Remember to plan ahead to ensure you can complete the trail(s) before the visitor center parking lot closes at 5:00 pm. Hiking park trails after hours is not permitted. Admittance to park trails begins at 9:00 am.

• If you wish to hike the Headland Trail, arrive no later than 2:30 pm (to give yourself time to complete this longer, more strenuous trail before closing time at 5:00 pm).

• If you wish to walk the Inscription Loop Trail, arrive no later than 4:00 pm.

Portions of the park trails may be closed during the winter months because of ice and snow. For current trail conditions, please call the visitor center (505-783-4226 ext. 801). Visit the Weather page for more information.
