Looking to bring your students to Eisenhower National Historic Site? This is the place to find out how!

If you are planning on bringing your school group to Eisenhower NHS, here are a few things to know in planning your visit.

How Do I Book a Trip or Program?

If you would like to book a tour of the Eisenhower home for your school or youth group, contact us here to inquire about days, times, and program options. Eisenhower NHS is able to accommodate education groups year round depending on staff availability.

How Do School Groups Get Here?

Groups that have contacted us and scheduled a program or visit have two options for getting to Eisenhower National Historic Site.

Education groups traveling via school bus or carpooling in 15 vehicles or fewer may drive directly to Eisenhower National Historic Site for programming and tours. For carpool directions, see our Maps page here. For school buses, use 243 Millerstown Rd for GPS and follow signage for on-site accessible parking.

If your group is traveling on a commercial bus, contact us in advance regarding options. Groups with commercial buses may need to book shuttles to the site via the Gettysburg Foundation. For inquiries regarding shuttles, contact us here.

Are Your Programs Rain or Shine?

Tours and programs will take place rain or shine, so please have your group dress for the weather on the day of your visit. Programs may be cancelled in the event of severe weather, such as thunderstorms, lightning, or snow/ice storms in the winter season.

How Much Does it Cost to Visit?

Eisenhower NHS is a fee free site. All programming offering by the NPS here is free of charge. The only costs associated with bringing groups to Eisenhower are if a shuttle bus is required for transportation due to the size of the group. For inquiries regarding shuttles, contact us here.

What Programs Do You Offer?

Eisenhower NHS offers house tours geared towards students as well as several curriculum based educational programs for students of various age groups. Curriculum based programs include Exploring the Eisenhowers and Ike and the Men of D-Day.

How Long Does a Visit Take?

Specific program times vary depending on the size of the group, age level, and the program, but we recommend planning for at least 90 minutes for your school group visit to Eisenhower NHS. In the colder months shorter visits may be advisable due to weather conditions at the site.

What Facilities are there at Eisenhower NHS?

Groups are advised to dress for the weather on the day of their visit. Currently, the only indoor space for groups at Eisenhower NHS is the Eisenhower home. Our site reception center is undergoing rehabilitation and is unavailable for groups.

While not indoors, the Eisenhower Bank Barn does have a gathering space, though it is not heated.

Restrooms are available in the lower level of the Eisenhower Bank Barn.
The Eisenhower NHS bookstore is located in the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center.

Does Eisenhower NHS offer any special events that may be suitable for my students?

Yes! Visit our events calendar here. Eisenhower NHS has special events throughout the year, and many of them have specific family activities and educational components. In particular, our World War II Weekend event each September has lots of activities and programs geared towards families, teachers, and students.
