Current Conditions

We try to update this page in a timely manner, however, due to the range in elevations and soil types for our roads and trails, conditions can change rapidly in Dinosaur National Monument. During winter, some areas may receive heavy snow while others are clear and dry. If you are traveling to the monument and would like additional information, please call the visitor center at (435) 781-7700 or email us.

November 1, 2019 Update
The Cub Creek Road to Josie's Cabin is currently open, and has patchy snow. The Harpers Corner Road is open but the road is icy and snow-packed, and 4WD is recommended.

The dugway to Echo Park is passable by 4WD with chains, but travel to Echo and the Bench Road is not recommended for any vehicles.

All monument campgrounds are in winter operations and have no water available. The Green River Campground is closed for the season. Paved roads in all areas of the monument have patchy snow. Unpaved roads in the monument (Echo Park, Yampa Bench, Island Park and Rainbow Park Road) may be impassable. Travel on unpaved roads in the monument when wet or snow covered is not recommended due to sticky clay and soft soils.

Weather in the fall can be extremely variable. Visitors should check the weather before heading out to explore and always let someone know about their plans.
