About the Park

Death Valley National Park is a land of extremes, and known for being Hottest, Driest, and Lowest. With Badwater Basin's elevation of -282', it is the lowest place in North America. With an average normal rainfall of 1.94", it is also the driest place in North America. With a July 10, 1913 temperature reading of 134°F at Furnace Creek, it holds the record for hottest reliably recorded day on Earth.
