De Soto National Memorial Has Cancelled All Visitor Programming for the Winter Season
Bradenton, FL – The National Park Service continues to closely monitor and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state and local officials, park operations continue to adapt to changing conditions while maintaining public access to park trails, open space, shoreline, and restrooms.
Due to the levels of COVID-19 in the local area, De Soto National Memorial has cancelled visitor programming from January through April due to recommended social distancing per CDC, and state and local health department guidelines. These programs include Living History programming, Historic Weapons demonstrations, in-person Junior Ranger activities, and De Soto Rancho Fishing Clinics. Currently, De Soto National Memorial’s parking lot, nature trails and restroom facilities are open at normal operating hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm seven days a week. While visiting we please ask individuals to maintain proper social distancing and recommend the wearing of face coverings.
De Soto National Memorial continues to provide appropriate park experiences while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for the visiting public. Please continue to check the park’s website
www.nps.gov/deso for continuing updates on the park’s phased reopening including any changes in visitor services.
Updates about NPS operations will be posted on
