Ranger programs provide an opportunity for visitors to learn more about the natural wonders of Curecanti National Recreation Area. Visit the park calendar to find program offerings. Most programs are offered from mid-May to September. Evening ProgramsExplore and learn about Curecanti wildlife, history, natural and cultural resources, and more at an illustrated evening program with a park ranger. Astronomy ToursJoin a park ranger for an astronomy program, laser tour of the night sky, and telescope viewing (weather dependent). Check the park calendar for dates and times. Gunnison Valley Observatory, located west of Gunnison, hosts astronomy programs about the moon, planets, and deep-sky objects visible in our clear, dark skies. Periodically in the summer, a Curecanti park ranger will join them to give a brief presentation followed by a telescope viewing.
