Wilberforce, OhioThe historic home and museum at Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument will resume its regular operating hours on Friday, January 31, 2025. Operations will run five days a week, Wednesday through Sunday from 9 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

The museum includes displays on the life and legacy of Brigadier General Charles Young, the third African American graduate of West Point, and the highest-ranking African American officer in the U.S. Army until his death in 1922, and the Buffalo Soldiers from 1866 through the Korean War. Visitors can also view a 10-minute interpretive film, engage in Junior Ranger activities, and shop at the monument’s bookstore.

Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument is the nation’s 401st National Park Service site. The park was established in 2013 to preserve more than 60 acres of what was once the home of Gen. Young and his family and to tell the story of the Buffalo Soldiers, African Americans who served in segregated U.S. Army units from 1866 through the Korean War.
