Food Storage Regulations

KEEP A CLEAN CAMP!

All food, cookware, pet food and bird seed, storage containers and coolers must be kept in storage lockers or a closed vehicle when not in use. Note mice may damage vehicles used for storage.

Food items or food waste left unattended for more than one hour may be discarded at the discretion of park staff as it poses a danger to wildlife and visitors. Visitors feeding wildlife, intentionally or unintentionally may be fined.

Do not burn waste or leave litter around your camp.

Garbage must be properly stored at all times. Use bearproof trash cans.

Camping in Wilderness

Bears, mountain lions, bobcats, skunks, squirrels, coatis, rodents, and snakes live in and around the campground.

You will be safe if you follow a few simple steps:
  • Do not approach wild animals. They can be dangerous!
  • You may not smell your food and water, but animals can. Use designated storage boxes so you don't attract pests.
  • Watch children whenever they are outdoors, even in developed areas.
  • Pets must be on a leash in your hand or in a vehicle at all times. Unattended pets may attract predators.
  • Report all bear and mountain lion sightings or encounters to park staff.
  • Feeding wildlife is prohibited.
  • Bird feeders are prohibited in the park.
  • Violation of park regulations may result in a ticket or fine.
