Choosing an Entrance Pass

Do you have or qualify for a discounted America the Beautiful Pass?

If you already have an America the Beautiful—the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass, that's the only entrance pass you need. Seniors, military, visitors with a permanent disability, and families with a 4th grader are eligible for a free or discounted America the Beautiful pass.

Entrance Passes

Standard Entrance Pass

$15.00–$25.00

All visitors must have an entrance pass. Entrance fees will be waived for all "America the Beautiful" passes which include Interagency Annual, Military, Senior, Every Kid in a Park, and Access Passes. Interagency Passes can be purchased in place of the entrance fee. Credit and debit cards are required to buy entrance fees and Interagency Passes. Visitors may buy their Entrance Pass in person or online on Recreation.gov.

For Vehicles

If you enter the park in a motorized vehicle, your entrance pass covers both you and your passengers. Your passengers do not need a separate pass.

Costs for vehicles with more than 15 passengers are listed below under Organizations and Businesses.

This fee allows all persons traveling in one private, non-commercial vehicle (car/truck/van) to enter the park to visit for up to 7 days from the date of purchase.

For Individuals without a Vehicle

If you enter the park on a bicycle or on foot and are at least 16 years old, you need your own entrance pass. Children under the age of 16 don't need an entrance pass.

This fee allows a single individual traveling on foot, bicycle, or as individuals traveling together in a vehicle as a non-commercial, organized group to enter the park to visit for up to 7 days from the date of purchase.

For Organizations & Businesses

If you represent an academic institution, you may be eligible for a fee waiver. Download and complete the Academic Fee Waiver and mail it to the park at least two weeks prior to your intended visit. We will notify you of the approval or disapproval of your application before your arrival. Please call 505-786-7014 for any additional questions about this process.

Non-commercial groups are charged per vehicle and based on the capacity of the vehicle. For vehicles with a seating capacity of 15 or fewer, the fee is $25. For vehicles with a seating capacity of 16 or more, the fee is $15/person up to the commercial fee rate. Interagency passes may be used for entry in lieu of the $15/person fee.

America the Beautiful Passes are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. Passholders must show valid photo identification (ID) with each pass.

How to Get an America the Beautiful Pass

In Person (Recommended)

Passes can be purchased or picked up at over 1,000 federal recreation sites.

Order Online, Receive by Mail

To receive your pass by mail, order online at the USGS Online Store . Online orders are for physical passes, not digital passes, and may take up to three weeks to be processed and delivered. Order receipts may not be used in place of a physical pass. We recommend ordering at least three weeks in advance of your visit, or picking up a pass in person instead.

NOTE: CASHLESS ENTRY ONLY. Credit and debit cards required to pay entrance fee. Cash is only accepted for bookstore purchases.

Buy Your Pass Online

Whether you're planning a single visit or coming back multiple times a year, enjoy the convenience of purchasing a Site Pass for Chaco Culture National Historical Park on Recreation.gov before you arrive. You have immediate access to your pass and can easily download it on your phone or tablet. Your pass will also be emailed as a PDF to be printed out for display when you visit the park. We encourage visitors to print the PDF copy that is emailed to you to display on the windshield of your vehicle, especially during times in which the visitor center may be closed.

Please note: Chaco Culture National Historical Park entrance pass is valid for 7 days. The entry pass expires after 7 days and is non-transferrable.

Vehicle Entrance Fee: $25.00 for 7 days

This permit allows all persons traveling in one private, non-commercial vehicle (car/truck/van) to enter the park to visit for up to 7 days from the date of purchase.

Motorcycle Entrance Fee: $20.00 for 7 days

This permit allows one motorcycle to enter the park to visit for up to 7 days from the date of purchase.

Individual Entrance Fee: $15.00 for 7 days

This permit allows a single individual traveling on foot, bicycle, or as individuals traveling together in a vehicle as a non-commercial, organized group to enter the park to visit for up to 7 days from the date of purchase.

Commercial Entrance Fees (charged per vehicle and based on capacity of the vehicle):

  • Sedan with 1-6 passengers: $40.00
  • Van with 7-15 passengers: $40.00
  • Mini Bus with 16-25 passengers: $40.00
  • Motor Coach with 26-46 passengers: $100.00

Non-Commercial Group Fees (charged per vehicle and based on capacity of the vehicle):

  • Vehicle seating capacity of 15 or less: $25.00
  • Vehicle seating capacity of 16 or more: $15.00 per person age 16 or older up to the commercial group fee rate. Interagency passes (e.g. Annual, Senior, or Access) may be used for entry as defined on the back of the pass.


ACTIVITY FEES

Please note that these fees are in addition to the park entrance fee.

Individual Camping: Gallo Campground is $20.00 per night per campsite. Campers with Interagency Senior or Access passes pay $10.00 per night per campsite. Reservations for campsites must be made at least 3 days in advance. To reserve a campsite, visit www.recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777.

Group Camping: Two group campsites (with a capacity of 10-30 people per campsite) are available at Gallo Campground by reservation. To reserve a group campsite, visit www.recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777.
