Cedar City, Utah – The Point Supreme Overlook will be closed to all access starting Monday, June 14 as construction staging begins on the new Cedar Breaks Visitor Contact Station. The closure will begin early Monday morning and will be in place through the 2022 season. In addition to the closure of the overlook, two-thirds of the parking lot will also be closed. A limited number of parking spaces will be available at the South Rim Trailhead (formerly known as Ramparts or Spectra Trail).To help visitors plan for visiting the park this summer, a new 2021 Visitor Guide webpage is available online at www.nps.gov/cebr/planyourvisit/2021.htm. The webpage includes information about ranger programs, information booths, entrance pass sales, campground operations, and most importantly restrooms. The page is updated regularly as the season progresses to provide visitors with the most up to date information available.
National Park Service awarded the contract to construct the new Visitor Contact Station at Cedar Breaks National Monument to E-Corp, a small business in Utah. The new Visitor Contact Station at Cedar Breaks will serve an increasing number of visitors to the national monument through an expanded indoor contact space, exhibits, and park store, new restroom facility, and sheltered outdoor space for public programming.
Design and construction of the new facility is part of the Centennial Challenge initiative which leverages public-private partnerships to fund major improvements within the national park system. Private fundraising for the new facility was spearheaded by Zion Forever Project, the official philanthropic partner of Cedar Breaks National Monument.
