Congratulations Tom Brown. The first annual #CapulinArt Contest Winner! Tom's watercolor was chosen to be represented on the 2019 Capulin Volcano Annual Pass.

Rules for entry:

  • All entries must be digital, and may be submitted through Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter using the hashtag #CapulinArt. Please ensure your post’s privacy setting allow public view, so that staff may be able to view your submission. Applicants may also email submissions to cavo_interpretation@nps.gov with the subject line titled #CapulinArt.
  • Deadline: All entries must be submitted by October 31, 2018.
  • Format: Format must be JPEG, PNG, OR TIF. No watermarks or private logos will be accepted, however the winning entry will credited.
  • Content: Artwork or photos must be of Capulin Volcano National Monument. Entries will be judged on their ability to promote a sense of wonder as well as demonstrate the beauty of Capulin Volcano. Examples include, photos or art portraying hikers, wildlife, flora, or scenic views of the volcano and surrounding landscape.
  • Release Form: Rangers will review entries and select a winner by consensus. The winner will be contacted prior to the announcement. The winner will be required to complete a release form. In the case that the winner is under the age of 18 a parent or legal guardian complete the release form on their behalf.
  • Resource Protection: Any entry portraying visitors engaged in illegal activities, including removing plants, rocks, harassing wildlife, or photos taken from drones will be disqualified.
