The Fire Management Plan (doc 2.86MB) for Catoctin Mountain Park was developed in 2004. Catoctin Mountain Park is comprised of 5,890 acres. The park’s large composition of mixed hardwood forests could sustain wildland fire. In addition, the use of prescribed fire as a resource management tool could play an important role in the park's vegetation management program, fuel reduction, and regeneration of species such as Table Mountain Pine (Pinus pungens). |
