City Nature Challenge
When is the BioBlitz?Cabrillo National Monument’s BioBlitz will be hosted on Saturday, April 25, 2026, with expert-led guided walks from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm.
You can join all walks across the day, or just one then explore freely!
For fee-free entry to the park, you must RSVP at cabr_education@nps.gov
What is a BioBlitz?A BioBlitz is a concentrated effort to discover and document as many species of plants, animals, and other organisms as possible within a certain time using the iNaturalist app.
Free to download on iOS and Android devices, iNaturalist is a global platform where people share photos or audios of organisms through submissions called observations. They help map an area’s biodiversity (many different forms of life) and measure impacts and changes over time.
As a “snapshot” of biodiversity, BioBlitzes connects community members with the outdoors and citizen science in a fun, interactive, and engaging way. Join park staff, local scientists, and fellow nature enthusiasts for a BioBlitz at Cabrillo National Monument to learn and gather data on San Diego’s incredible biodiversity.
Join our iNaturalist project and add your observations at Cabrillo National Monument City Nature Challenge BioBlitz 2026.
