Spotted Towhee (Pipilo maculatus)

Length 7” Wingspan 13.5”
Short blunt tipped bill, small stocky body, short rounded wings, short tail, mostly blue with orange breast, seen in small groups searching for seeds and insects.

The very distinct growled Tow-HEE call of a Spotted Towhee can be heard in abundance all over the park along with the baby’s rattle (or plucked, taught rubber band) of a male’s song.
