California Towhee (Melozone crissalis)

Length 10” Wingspan 14”
Short bill, small slightly stocky body, rounded wings, long tail, mostly gray with white patches on wing and tail, seen alone defending trees eating insects and fruit.

A high-pitched, single metallic cheep signifies a California Towhee is nearby.
