Frequently Asked Questions

If you're looking to book a first-come, first-served campsite, please go directly to the campground. You can get the necessary information at the entrance kiosk or by speaking to a campground host.

If you're looking to reserve a campsite, please visit Recreation.gov

It's very difficult to predict whether a first-come, first-served campsite will be available when you arrive at the park. Here are some tips:
  • Be here early. Aim to arrive before noon if possible.
  • Make it a priority. When you get to the park, head straight to the campground to get information, ask questions, and reserve a spot.
  • Time your visit right. Visiting during our busy summer season, on holiday weekends, or other special occasions makes it more difficult to find a spot. Consider weekdays or a shoulder season visit for better odds of getting a campsite.

Due to rising visitation, Bryce Canyon's front-country campgrounds can fill by noon on weekends in May through October. If you arrive too late to get a site in a designated campground, you have the following options:
  • Go to a private campground or stay in lodging in gateway communities. Visit Garfield County Tourism Bureau for more information.
  • Check out options for dispersed camping (note: you are responsible for understanding and abiding by all USFS and BLM regulations).

Dispersed camping is not allowed within the park. Campers found along the roadside or at a roadside pull-off within the park may be subject to citation.

Campsites vary in size and the only way to know for sure if your trailer or RV will fit is by verifying the length of your rig (including your tow-car) and comparing it to your intended site's measurements before booking. Dimensions for all campsites can be found on Recreation.gov.

If your tow-car causes your measurements to exceed the site's dimensions (wheels on pavement at all times), you will have to leave your tow-car in the overflow lot located near the Visitor Center. Please inquire with the campground host for parking information before parking in the overflow lot.

It depends! A small van, or vehicle with a roof-top tent, can park in a tent site only if it fits in the space without overflowing into the road or damaging resources (no parking, camping, or walking on vegetation).

Do not remove barricades (Large rocks, large tree branches, logs or carsonite posts) for any reason. Cars are to stay on paved areas.

To ensure your vehicle will fit, please check the site dimensions on Recreation.gov before booking.

No. At this time tents are only permitted in areas designated for tent camping.

It depends on the pass! Only the following passholders (with valid ID) are entitled to a 50% discount on their camping fees:
  • Golden Age & Golden Access Passes;
  • America the Beautiful Federal Lands Senior Pass (lifetime pass for U.S. residents 62 years and older);
  • America the Beautiful Federal Lands Access Pass (lifetime pass for U.S. residents with a permanent disability).
All other pass-holders (e.g. Annual / Military / Volunteer / 4th Grade "Every Kid in a Park") are not eligible for a discount on camping fees.

Coin-operated shower and laundry facilities are available at the General Store during operating hours. The General Store is located near Sunrise Point and North Campground and also serves "grab-and-go" hot and cold food, beverages, camping supplies, and souvenirs.

The General Store is typically closed between January and March.

In addition to restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities, the General Store also offers  "grab-and-go" hot and cold foods such as hot dogs, ice cream, and sandwiches. Beverages such as soda, water, beer, and coffee are also available. Visitors can also find camping supplies including firewood and souvenirs.

The General Store is typically closed between January and March.

Note: Gathering firewood, pine cones or pine needles found within park boundaries is prohibited.

If you're camping in a designated tent loop, generators are not permitted to be used at any time.

If you're camping in an RV loop, generator hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. only.

No. There are no sewer hookups at any campsite and portable showers and toilets are prohibited. This includes solar showers, and showers or toilets set up in pop-up tents.
