Schedule a Visit

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Curecanti National Recreation Area offer a variety of ways for you and your students to experience the parks. Ranger-guided field trips are offered for 2nd and 4th grade students.

Academic Fee Waivers

Educational groups coming to Black Canyon that are organized by an accredited educational institution, whether self-guided or ranger-guided, may qualify for a waiver of park entrance fees. Curecanti National Recreation Area does not charge entrance fees. Please submit your fee waiver application at least two weeks in advance of your trip.

How to Apply

  • Click here to download the Academic Entrance Fee Waiver application.

  • Fill out Section 1, Section 2, and Section 5.

  • At the bottom of page 3, fill out the Authorized Name and Title. Sign and date.

  • Gather documentation to support Section 5, Criteria One – Eligibility. Examples include an accreditation letter or educational tax-exempt letter.

  • Submit Academic Fee Waiver application and supporting documents via email (CURE_education@nps.gov) at least 2 weeks in advance.
