Kuzitrin Lake

Kuzitrin Lake
Kuzitrin Lake in Bering Land Bridge National Preserve.

Kuzitrin Lake is located at the foot of the Bendeleben Mountains in the southeastern part of Bering Land Bridge National Preserve. On the lakeshores, stone cairns provide evidence of the long history of human presence in the area.

Kuzitrin Lake also provides an excellent starting point for off-trail journeys to the Imuruk volcanic fields and Twin Calderas, two volcanic craters that collapsed to create large bowl-like depressions in the ground.

A variety of wildlife can be found near Kuzitrin Lake, including wolves, brown bears, foxes, and caribou. This is also one of the better places to see moose in Bering Land Bridge National Preserve.

Kuzitrin Lake is accessible by floatplane, non-motorized vehicles, or by foot. Fishing is popular, with several species of fish living in the lake.
