Supporting Volunteers along the Lewis and Clark Trail

Volunteerism continues to be a vital link on the Lewis and Clark Trail between sites and visitors. In 2022, volunteers across the Lewis and Clark Trail contributed more than 64,000 hours! This year, Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail provided financial assistance to 14 sites in support of volunteer programs. Items purchased included safety equipment, supplies for historic gardens, and environmental education products. Below is a snapshot of the volunteer programs at work in 2022 along the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail.

Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center
Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center Volunteer Jim Meade (right) received the Jeffersonian Award for nearly 10,000 hours of service since the center opened in 1998. Great Falls, MT.
Sacajawea Interpretive, Cultural & Educational Center
AmeriCorps volunteer crew served at Sacajawea Interpretive Center in Salmon, ID.
Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Headquarters
