The mother of P-3, she was the second lion to be studied north of the 101 Freeway. Just like her son P-3, she crossed the 118 Freeway a number of times (at least nine crossings), also in the Rocky Peak/Corriganville Tunnel area. The crossing of the 118 Freeway by at least two lions is encouraging for long-term connectivity in the region, and showed us the potential utility of underpasses to safely allow animals to cross a busy roadway. She, too, died of anticoagulant rodenticide poisoning several months after first being captured for study in the winter of 2004. Genetic testing confirmed that the male she mated with to produce P-3 was the same male that produced P-2 with an unknown female lion.
