How much time should I plan for my visit?
You can visit four public sites at Hopewell Culture National Historical Park and day of the week! We suggest you plan on one full day to visit all four: Mound City Group, Hopeton Earthworks, Hopewell Mound Group and Seip Earthworks.
Start at the only Visitor Center for Hopewell Culture NHP, the Mound City Group, 9am – 4pm every day of the week.
Time Needed:
- 30-minutes: watch the interpretive film and explore the Visitor Center.
- 30 – 45 minutes: walk through the Mound City Group earthwork and the nature trail. Total of 1 mile.
Next, drive to the other three public sites: Hopeton Earthworks, Hopewell Mound Group and Seip Earthworks.

23-minute drive, 16.5 miles from Mound City Group
30 minutes to 1 hour to walk into the earthwork
