2023 National Ranger Excellence Award

Bruce Phillips embarked on his journey as a US Park Ranger in May 1991, serving across various national parks with professionalism and dedication. At Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Bruce plays a pivotal role as the Field Training Lead, offering leadership and guidance to Field Training Officers and officers participating in the field training program who are on the front lines of law enforcement. His impact extends nationally through his role on the region’s Special Event Tactical Team, responding to critical missions throughout the country. Bruce is a champion of diversity and inclusion, recognizing its pivotal role in fostering a supportive workplace. He actively collaborates with the Relevancy, Diversity, and Inclusion Workgroup and Allies for Inclusion, ensuring every voice is heard and valued. This commitment enriches collaboration and mutual respect among his colleagues, community, and the NPS.
