Movie TheaterFor your viewing pleasure, several movies are available upon request in the Visitor Center movie theater. The Transparent Border is an engaging 35-minute film about Amistad National Recreation Area. If you are interested in the area's cultural history, there are two films available. Spirits of the Canyon is a 30-minute film that gives insight into the Lower Pecos region pictographs. We also have a short, 10-minute film, called Window to the Past, about SHUMLA School and local pictographs. If you are traveling to Big Bend National Park, stop in and watch a 30-minute film about the park called A Land of Contrasts. Also available for viewing in our theater is the 62-minute-long movie, Bravo y Grande: The Lower Canyons of the Rio Grande, which takes you on an 83-mile adventure on the Rio Grande with those who know the river well. ExhibitsExhibits interpret the history, natural, and cultural resources of Amistad National Recreation Area and the region. BookstoreBig Bend Natural History Association Bookstore carries bandanas, water bottles, Junior Ranger items, and a distinctive selection of books and printed materials on a variety of subjects related to the local region. We have restocked our bookstore with a new selection of books and souvenirs to include coffee mugs, passport stickers, and ornaments. Looking for a gift or keepsake? Stop by Big Bend Natural History Association Bookstore located in our Amistad National Recreation Area Visitor Center and find pins, post cards, books, and more. Junior Ranger ProgramAsk a Park Ranger at the Visitor Center for the Amistad Junior Ranger Book. Work on fun and educational activities to earn your Junior Ranger badge and patch.
