QUINCY, MA — Adams National Historical Park opens for the season on Wednesday, May 1, with a renewed focus on the role of the Adams family and their community in the American Revolution.

Park visitors will experience life at the Adams Farm at Penn’s Hill, which is home to the John Adams and John Quincy Adams Birthplaces and the site where the Adams family lived at the time of the American Revolution. Here, visitors can explore significant historical events, such as the drafting of the Massachusetts Constitution and the writing of Abigail Adams’s “Remember the Ladies” letter, along with stories of the Adams family and their diverse community. The renewed focus on the stories of the American Revolution connects Adams National Historical Park, along with six other National Park Service sites in Massachusetts, to a larger National Park Service initiative commemorating the United States Semiquincentennial in 2026.

Visitors can explore these stories through self-guided tours of the John Adams and John Quincy Adams Birthplaces at the Adams Farm at Penn’s Hill, a ranger-guided tour of the Old House at Peace field, and an extended park tour featuring ranger-led guided tours at the Adams Farm at Penn’s Hill and the Old House at Peace field. All tours and programs are offered as staffing and weather permit. Entrance passes and tour reservations can be acquired in advance online at recreation.gov or on a first-come, first-served basis at the Visitor Center at 1250 Hancock St. in Quincy. The Visitor Center and historic homes are open Wednesdays through Sundays, May 1 through October 31. Park grounds are open daily dawn to dusk and are free to visit. For information regarding tours and programming, visit the park website.
