Visitor parking is available throughout the park, with both metered and free options on street and parking lots. The on-street parking areas can be found in the following locations: Constitution Avenue NW between 15th Street NW and 23rd Street NW, Independence Avenue SW between 15th Street and Maine Avenue, Jefferson Drive SW, Madison Drive NW, Parkway Drive NW, West Basin Drive SW, and Ohio Drive at East and West Potomac Parks. Additionally, parking lots are available at the following locations: Parking Lots A, B, and C on Ohio Drive SW, Buckeye Drive parking lot (Lot D), next to the tennis court and The Tidal Basin parking lot on Maine Avenue.
Metered Parking The National Park Service offers over 1,400 metered parking spaces throughout the National Mall area. These meters generate revenue for park improvements, enhancing the visitor experience while encouraging a more frequent turnover of limited parking spaces and promoting the use of alternative transportation options available in the park.Metered parking is available daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. (including weekends and holidays, except December 25) at a cost of $2.30 per hour, with a maximum duration of 3 hours (not renewable at the same location). For Parking Lots A, B, C, D and Ohio Drive, SW, the maximum duration is 6 hours. Pay stations accept credit and debit cards only (no cash or coins); payment can also be made through the ParkMobile app or website. Free Parking Hains Point in East Potomac Park offers approximately 520 free parking spaces.
Accessible Parking There are 150 accessible metered public parking spaces conveniently located throughout the park, near various memorials and points of interest. These include Jefferson and Madison Drives, the Washington Monument, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, the World War II Memorial, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial, as well as the Tidal Basin.Please note that parking can be very limited in Washington, D.C. Some of these accessible parking areas may be within metered zones, requiring users to pay for parking, consistent with the city’s metering policies in the Central Business District.
Bus Parking Bus parking is primarily available along Ohio Drive, SW in West Potomac Park, near the Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson Memorials. Additional bus parking is available on Ohio Drive, SW in East Potomac Park and along Independence Avenue near the Washington Monument. There are several short-term loading/unloading areas across the park, conveniently located near various memorials and points of interest to provide the safest and most efficient visitor’s experience at the park. |
